He took a job with Otis Elevator, working for Otis until his retirement in 1990.

Charles is survived by his sister, Joanne Moer, sister in law Clara L.She is survived by one daughter, Lynn Merritt Gaudet and husband, Steve Gaudet, of St. Va.; 13 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews and additional daughters-in-law Cyndy Klock Bazille, Julie Benefield, Connie Singer, Pam Merritt and Teri Whelan. Pitts, nieces Marianne Reaves and husband Monty, Connie Center and husband Mike, and Abbie Kaper and husband Randy and nephew David Moer. Charles was loved by many friends and extended family. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Juvenile Diabetes 26 Broadway, 14He is survived by his daughter Debbie Newman of Houston, son Gary Delz and wife Sherrie of Georgetown, sister Darlene Ormand of Fredericksburg, brother David Delz and wife Cleo of Austin, Five grandchildren and Twelve great grandchildren.He was determined to and did remain in that home until his death.
